What are the school's hours?

Most preschool classes meet from 9 am until 1 pm, but the Butterflies class meets from 9 am - 3 pm. Before care is available at 8 am and after care is available from 1 pm until 3 pm.

When is tuition due?

All tuition is based on a 9-month academic cycle and is billed evenly each month (September – May), regardless of the number of school days per month. Tuition is due on the 1st of the month and considered late if not received by the 7th of the month. Tuition that is not paid on-time will incur a $25 late fee. If the 1st of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, tuition is due the following business day. Tuition can be paid by mail, online or brought to the front office.

Can I be a co-op parent and reduce tuition costs?

Yes! We have an optional co-op program that allows you to be involved in your child's school and reduce their tuition costs. You are required to work 3 consecutive days per month as an assistant in one of our co-op classrooms.  Please see the "Co-op Contract" on the Forms page for more information.

Will my child eat at school? Should I pack food for them?

Yes, lunch is built into our students' day. Please send your child with a healthy lunch each day. We ask that you do not send sugary snacks. Please be aware that we do not have facilities for heating or cooling students lunches.

How do you handle allergies?

Food restrictions are handled on a class-by-class basis. To protect our students with severe allergies, please abide by any class-specific food policies as provided by your child's teacher. For the 2017-2018 school year, we are officially peanut free due to the number of children enrolled that are allergic.

Can I bring treats for my child's birthday?

You are welcome to bring cookies or cupcakes for your child's class on their birthday. Again, please abide by any classroom specific food restrictions to protect students with allergies. We ask that parents not bring in other food, drinks, goody bags or decorations.

What should I do if my child has been sick?

Children should not be brought to school if they are showing any symptoms of being sick. Children must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school. These precautions are in place to minimize the spread of contagious illness. If your child become ill during school hours, they will be brought to the school office and we will notify you to pick up your child.

How do you handle inclement weather and emergencies?

Franconia Baptist Preschool follows Fairfax County Public Schools' inclement weather policy on late openings and school closings. If FCPS has a two-hour delay, our classes will have a two-hour delay. On delayed start days, our school will still end at 1:00pm. Inclement weather days will not be made up unless we have scheduled school closures to draw from.

You may find FCPS announcements at these locations:

The Preschool will notify our parents of late openings and school closures as early as possible via our parent email. If inclement weather develops during the day and you feel weather conditions warrant, you may always pick up your child before a formal announcement is made.
